HPS takes system responsibility in regional collaboration on new hybrid service vessel

Haf Power Solutions (HPS) is strengthening its position in the electrification of work vessels with the delivery of a complete energy system for a new 21-metre hybrid service vessel. The vessel is being built by Salthammer Båtbyggeri for Charvest.

The contract builds on a long-standing collaboration between HPS and Salthammer. HPS has served as system integrator for the yard’s last nine vessel contracts, creating a solid foundation for efficient cooperation and smooth project execution. With Charvest joining the project, the vessel owner, yard and system integrator are brought together in a project with strong local and regional roots.

Salthammer Båtbyggeri in Vestnes, Charvest in Sula, and HPS in Ålesund and Trondheim are all part of a strong regional maritime environment, where development, construction and day-to-day operations are closely connected. The project builds on long-term relationships and a shared understanding of what it takes to deliver vessels that perform in real operations. It also shows how local expertise can be translated into lasting competitive strength.

HPS will deliver a complete energy system, including its own maritime battery system and cLion Light DC Grid for energy management and monitoring. The solution is developed for smaller vessels and designed to support stable, energy-efficient operation in demanding conditions. It also gives the vessel flexibility for future development, including possible integration with shore charging through cSnake.

“Our experience is that the best solutions come from taking a long-term view, where development, construction and operation are considered together. That’s why we work closely with both the yard and the vessel owner throughout the project, with a clear focus on the vessel’s operation and the crew’s working day,” says Bengt-Olav Berntsen, CEO of HPS.

Lasse Stokkeland, General Manager at Salthammer Båtbyggeri, says: “This is a modern service vessel, well suited to the needs of today’s aquaculture industry, and ready for the needs of tomorrow. The close cooperation between the yard, supplier and vessel owner has been important in developing a solution that works in practice.”

For Charvest, choosing solutions that provide operational reliability while reducing emissions has been essential.

“Electric operation at the fish pens gives us clear benefits in daily operations. HPS’s solution gives us the flexibility to adapt the vessel to future needs” says Ole Andrè Leine, General Manager at Charvest.
